2016-17 Food & Supplies Holiday Drive
Thanks to everyone who donated to our collection drive! This holiday season students were asked to help collect non-perishable food items (i.e., canned meats, fruits, vegetables, dry goods such as mixes, pasta, cereal, canned juices and beverages, instant meals, etc.), as well as shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, books (for gr. 4th-6th), puzzles, arts & crafts or hobby kits, and gift cards for those in need. Donations were collected in the CHCS lobby throughout the month of December. This act of kindness is a form of Helping Others; one of the most important values in our PeaceBuilders Pledge. We encourage parents to please talk with your child about this and assist them in helping meet the needs of others. The donation drive continued until December 15th.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this event, please contact the Counseling Department.
Books: We collected books appropriate for grades 4-6; not picture books or board books. Books like Harry Potter, Dork Diaries, Wimpy Kid series, Percy Jackson Series, Goosebumps, the Warriors, etc.
Toothbrushes: Thanks to the generosity of our students as well as local dental offices including that of Dr. Kosiorek and Dr. Hsiao, we were able to collect a small mountain of toothbrushes and toothpaste!
Arts & Crafts/Hobby Kits: Any kit that allows creativity was what were looking for here. Rainbow Loom, bracelet kits, clay sculpting, model building kits, pastry kits, origami, Perler Bead kits, etc.
Foods: We were able to collect enough food supplies to stuff an SUV full to capacity to deliver it to a local charity for distribution.
