What is Mix-It-Up @ Lunch Day?Students were assigned seating at tables during lunchtime, based on randomly distributed colored bracelets that match a colored centerpiece on each table. They were presented with conversation-starter tools and staff/parent volunteer assistance to help them get to know some new peers, or maybe just learn more about peers they already knew.
The whole point was to encourage students to meet and chat with other students they wouldn't normally hang out with! Click here to see how Mix It Up went last year |
Can't wait until next year!
We had a great time at this year's Mix-it-Up @Lunch Day. Students enjoyed chatting with friends, as well as new/old acquaintances. New relationships were formed, old ones were strengthened. A few students (and teachers/parent volunteers) even got up and danced when crowd favorite songs such as Silento's "Watch me" (aka The Whip/Nae Nae) came up in our student-selected music playlist.
Several students posed together at our Mix-it-Up Photo op!
We asked every student at CHCS to complete a short worksheet after Mix-it-Up Day to see what they experienced. Here are some of the responses below:

Here's a video clip to explain a little bit more about the event:
We printed out tons of these coloring sheets below and asked students to help us
decorate for Mix-it-Up Day by adding their own artistic flare to the pictures.
We then hung them up all over the cafeteria. Feel free to download and print a couple.
